Your Axpert inverter, without the walk to the garage

Axpert-family inverters show a lot on their small display, if you stand in front of it. Axpert Monitor reads the same figures through the RS232 port and puts them on your phone.

Axpert Monitor box with screen next to an off-grid inverter installation

The Axpert design is one of the most widespread off-grid and hybrid inverter platforms in the world. The same core is sold under many names, which is why so many homes, cabins and workshops run one. They all share a serial communication port, usually an RJ45 marked RS232, that reports almost everything the front display shows.

Axpert Monitor connects to that port. It shows solar power, house load, grid input, battery voltage and current, operating mode and warnings on its own screen, on a dashboard on your phone over home Wi-Fi, and in Home Assistant. No Wi-Fi dongle subscription, no cloud portal: everything stays at home, and the box never changes an inverter setting.

Solar production

PV voltage and power, live, so you know what the panels are giving right now.

House load

Output power and load percentage, to see what the house is really drawing.

Grid and battery

Grid voltage and frequency, battery voltage, charge and discharge current, battery level.

Mode and warnings

Line, battery or fault mode, and the warning codes, decoded in plain words.

Home Assistant

MQTT discovery creates every sensor; a JSON API feeds anything else.

Read-only

Charge settings and priorities stay as you set them on the inverter.

Your solar day, measured

Solar production, house load and battery level on one chart. In the morning you see the panels take over from the battery, at midday whether energy is wasted because the battery is already full, and in the evening how fast the battery drains. That is exactly what you need to decide whether to add panels, batteries, or simply move the washing machine to noon.

The optional remote dashboard keeps three years of history and lets you export it.

RJ45 RS232 socket and USB-C power socket of Axpert Monitor

Uses the port your inverter already has

Axpert-family inverters have an RS232 port, usually an RJ45 socket, and often a USB port next to it. The box plugs into the RS232 socket with the supplied cable and is powered by any USB charger. It measures 70 × 70 × 36 mm and has a colour screen.

The hardware is the same as Pylon-Monitor, our Pylontech monitor already in use across Europe, which already speaks RS232. The firmware is written for the Axpert protocol.

Questions people ask first

Which inverters does it work with?

Axpert-family off-grid and hybrid inverters with an RS232 port. The same design is sold under many brand names; if your inverter’s menus and display look like an Axpert, tell us the exact model and we check it before shipping.

My inverter has a different brand on it. Can I still use it?

Very likely, if it is built on the Axpert platform. Send us a photo of the label and the communication ports; we confirm before you pay, or test it before we ship.

RS232 or USB?

The box uses the RS232 port. On some models the USB port takes over the serial line when something is plugged into it, so leave the USB port free.
